Firefox url bar problem on Ubuntu 8.04

I have been suffering for this issue for few months.(really suffered...trust me)

 

I finally found solution from firefox error console (ctrl+shift+j thing…)

 

The key was these messages

Failed to load XPCOM component: /usr/lib/xulrunner-1.9.0.5/components/pyabout.py

Failed to load XPCOM component: /usr/lib/xulrunner-1.9.0.5/components/libpyloader.so

 

Google suggested me this posting : https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+question/55052

 

Solution is

  1. firefox –profilemanager
  2. delete “Default” profile
  3. make a new one

 

And not was exact sympthom and not exact answer (actually it didn’t work for Gregg Pederson the issue submittor) but it worked for me.

 

URL bar of firefox 3.05 on my Ubuntu box is working properly now.
